As part of the operations to prevent the forced recruitment of children and adolescents, Colombian National Army, through the Comprehensive operation and Development Support Battalion No. 4, and in coordination with the Recupera tu Silla Foundation, made a significant contribution of furniture and school supplies to the Francisco Arango School, in Mesetas, in the rural area of Villavicencio.
More than 40 desks, notebooks, books, balloons and pens were distributed as part of a strategy that seeks to strengthen school permanence and generate protective environments for the children and adolescents of the territory, thus contributing to the construction of peace from the classrooms.
The event was attended by the ICBF, teachers, parents and primary school students, who performed cultural exhibitions such as dances and poetry recitals, generating a pedagogical atmosphere full of joy and hope.
"Thank you for contributing to the improvement of the conditions of the institutions. I congratulate Colombian National Army for this very important operation that builds peace," said the principal of the school, Oto Gómez Quevedo.
For his part, the student Adrian Gonzales said: "Solidarity is helping others, and you help us today by making our school better every day so that we continue to study. Thank you very much."
Major Hugo Andrés Sepúlveda Ruiz, commander of the Comprehensive operation and Development Support Battalion No. 4, highlighted:
"We ratify the commitment to work hand in hand with public and private institutions in favor of the communities that need it most."
These efforts complement the ongoing operations carried out by the soldiers of Colombian National Army in the dismantling of criminal structures specialized in the recruitment of minors, such as the arrest of alias Chirivico, responsible for the recruitment of at least 14 boys and girls in the department of Cauca, carried out two months ago in this same area of Villavicencio, department of Meta.
