This individual, apparently, was the zone financial chief of the Organized Armed Group, GAO, Clan del Golfo, in the department of Magdalena.
In the course of military operations, troops of the National Army, in coordination with the National Police, made the arrest in flagrante delicto, in the municipality of the Zona Bananera, of alias Marcos, alleged member of the criminal component of the Organized Armed Group, GAO, Clan del Golfo in Magdalena.
The arrest, which was conducted by troops of the Magdalena Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) and the Mechanized Infantry Battalion No.5, hit the criminal operations of the GAO in different municipalities of the Magdalena department.
According to initial information, the National Army was able to establish that alias Marcos, who had an extensive criminal record and had already been arrested in 2019, was the zone financial chief of the Javier Yepes Cantero substructure of the GAO and was in charge of collecting money from criminal income in the department of Córdoba.
Alias Marcos would have been the suspected mastermind of the burning of vehicles and coordination for graffiti intimidating people in the municipalities Fundacion, Pivijay, Sabanas, Angel, Algarrobo and El Reten, in addition to being, apparently, the main coordinator of illegal activities in this sector of the department.
In the operations it was possible to find war and communications material in the possession of the apprehended.
This individual and the materials were put into custody of the authorities to conduct the prosecution process for the crime of Manufacturing, trafficking, carrying or possession of firearms, accessories, parts or ammunition.
