This year, the Zeus Stabilization and Consolidation Command has neutralized several dredges and elements used to carry out the illegal exploitation of mining deposits in the south of Tolima.
The Zeus Stabilization and Consolidation Command, with troops of the Caicedo Infantry Battalion, in a joint operation with the Colombian Air Force and coordinated with the National Police, in development and compliance with the Ayacucho Plan, it was possible to arrest three individuals and to find important material with which illicit exploitation of mining deposits was carried out in the south of Tolima.
The operation against this crime that hits the ecosystems of Tolima, was carried out in the municipality of Ataco. There the troops of the Caicedo Infantry Battalion arrived, accompanied by units of the Colombian Air Force, National Police and officials of the Autonomous Corporation of Tolima (Cortolima), to find a motor pump, power generator, hammer drill, among other elements and chemicals, which would cost about six million pesos. In the same way, it was possible to interrupt the production of about 400 grams of gold per month, which would be equivalent in trade to approximately 107,081,000 million COP.
With this operation, it was possible to directly hit the organized crime groups, which allegedly would be financing their criminal activity through the sale of gold, which hits the environment. The three arrested were arrested by orders of the authorities.
The Fifth Division of the National Army and its units continue to work in order to provide tranquility to the inhabitants of the department of Tolima, neutralizing all types of illegal exploitation of natural resources in this area of the country.
