Through this illicit activity he managed to collect $10 million pesos, due to the payment made by his victims.
The Tolima Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) of the Sixth Brigade of Colombian National Army, thanks to the denunciation of the victims and an exhaustive follow-up carried out by the soldiers, it was possible to find the individual accused of the crime of aggravated extortion.
This man was in jail for the crime of extortion, but he was continuing to carry out the same illegal activity by means of calls where he pretended to be a relative. He took three victims in the department of Tolima and Meta, in this way collecting about 10 million pesos through this criminal activity.
While the arrested man was put into custody of the Attorney General's Office, the investigative process continues to determine if there are more similar cases and other money collection crimes. In addition, it is expected to identify possible accomplices who use this crime of extortion in different modalities. This result of the military operation reaffirms the commitment of the soldiers of the Sixth Brigade to attack the problem of extortion and kidnapping.
