In a coordinated operation it was possible to find and dismantle a cocaine hydrochloride production laboratory in rural Durania, significantly weakening the illicit activities of the organized armed group, GAO, ELN.
During military operations, units of the Mechanized Cavalry Group N°5 General Hermogenes Maza, with coordinated support of the Anti-Narcotics Directorate, reported the finding and destruction of a cocaine hydrochloride production laboratory, in the village Libano.
This illegal complex, made of five structures, would be at the service of the illicit activities of the Carlos Germán Velasco Villamizar Urban Front of the GAO ELN, an organization responsible for boosting drug trafficking in the region.
During the operation, 375 kilograms of solid cocaine hydrochloride were found by troops, along with a significant amount of precursors used for its production, including 2,045 gallons of acetone, 10 gallons of hydrochloric acid and 54 gallons of DIESEL, as well as 450 kilograms of solid chemical substances, including metabisulfite and activated charcoal.
In the same way, multiple elements used in the production chain of the narcotic drug were found by troops at the scene of the events, such as distillation systems, furnaces, hydraulic presses, measuring equipment, containers and packaging elements, evidencing the logistical capacity of this criminal structure for large-scale production.
This result of the military operation represents a direct loss to illicit drug trafficking revenues for an approximate cost of 17 billion pesos, in addition to preventing the marketing of more than 1,125,000 doses of cocaine in the region.
The Thirtieth Brigade is constant in its territorial control measures to hit the criminal structures that hit the security and stability of the department of Norte de Santander.
