National Army builds wells to supply water to the most remote communities

The team of military engineers is made up of 60 members of the Military Forces specialists, trained and prepared for these missions where, after drilling the terrain, they led water to flow to the surface, which means better quality of life for both peasants in rural areas of the country and for military units.

In remote areas, places of difficult access where the water service is almost a miracle, the National Army arrives with a human team and technical equipment, to conduct the drilling of wells.

The members of the Military Forces, belonging to the Construction Special Operations Engineer Battalion No.90, after transporting machinery and tools, arrived with their professionalism, ingenuity and knowledge to benefit those who need them most. So, for several days, with patience and care, they drill to achieve the planned objective: to bring up water where for years it was unthinkable to have it.

For the military engineers of the National Army, getting the moment of seeing water coming out is a satisfaction that has replaced the technical problems, and especially those that nature has put, since the terrain, depending on its conditions, can close or collapse the drilling segment into the depths.

Reaching the proposed depths is difficult. The Colombian territory has dry, sandy, rocky and sometimes polluted terrain that prevents natural access to water, but the mission is clear: to get it and make it safe for those who need it most.

The wells in the same way serve to bring the service to military units who conduct security and institutional work.

This year the military engineers have already made five successful well drilling operations: in Putumayo, the Lower Cauca region in Antioquia, Guaviare, Puerto Berrio, Antioquia, and La Macarena, in Meta.

This important humanitarian operation does not end after the water is found. The next step is to make it clean, and that's when the National Army begins to install a system of pipes, networks and plants that clean the water from sand, clay and stones, so that at the end it is suitable for human consumption.
