So far this year, the Fourth Brigade of Colombian National Army has neutralized the threat of 16 illegal mining operations in the Eastern subregion of the department of Antioquia.
The finding and controlled destruction of the material used for the illicit exploitation of mining sites took place in the municipality center of Salta Abajo, in the municipality of Marinilla, in eastern Antioquia.
There, the soldiers of the Mechanized Cavalry Battalion No. 4 Juan del Corral, of the Fourth Brigade, in coordination with the Carabineros and Environmental Protection Section of the National Police, found 3 motor pumps, 2 diver-type dredgers and 2 mineral classifiers.
Through this result, we continue to counteract the pollution caused by illegal mining, which causes direct damage to geological, biological, water and atmospheric resources.
Colombian National Army will continue contributing to environmental sustainability, protecting biodiversity and natural and water resources, as strategic assets of the nation.
