Since last Tuesday, February 8, the day on which the emergency of rains occurred, due to an avalanche of land in the La Esneda neighborhood, on the border of Pereira and Dosquebradas, in the department of Risaralda, the assistance of the National Army has not stopped.

Nearly 70 members of the Brigade of Military Engineers for Disaster Response and Prevention continue to carry out search and rescue work, monitoring the area and supporting people in the preventive evacuation of their houses.

A fundamental role has been played by the military canine binomials. These couples, dog and master, have been trained to provide support for this kind of emergency. The Army has been supporting the civil authorities and relief agencies from day one in the tasks ordered of the unified command post which has led to the rescue alive, among the rubble, of more than 34 people.

At this hour the work continues to be conducted in the difficult terrain and progress is being made in the search for one more person who, apparently, would be missing and could be found among the rubble.
