Joint operation conducted by Army and Police leads to the arrest of a man and the seizure of 480 kilos of marijuana in Tesalia, Huila department.
Within the framework of territorial control operations, troops of the 26th Cacique Pigoanza Infantry Battalion, with the support of the 11th Light Cavalry Group and in coordination with the National Police, seized an important shipment of narcotics in the department of Huila.
The operation was carried out through a checkpoint on Route I24, road section 41, in the village of El Higueron, in the municipality of Thessaly. During the operation of a car-type vehicle, members of the Military Forces found several black bags that, due to their characteristics, was inferred that it contained a plant substance with characteristics similar to marijuana.
As a result of the action, a man was arrested and 480 kilos of marijuana were seized, in addition to the vehicle used for transportation. The arrested man, the car and the confiscated items were put into custody of the authority to continue with the corresponding judicial process.
Through this result, the Ninth Brigade reaffirms its commitment to the security of the department of Huila, strengthening joint and inter-institutional operations to combat drug trafficking and hit the illicit activities that finance organized armed groups.
