With important seizures of hallucinogens and the destruction of explosive devices, the military units in Nariño provide a positive report of the military operation.
Colombian National Army in 2026 has positively hit the 64 municipalities of the department of Nariño, through joint, coordinated and inter-institutional military operations, within the framework of the Strategic Campaign Plan Ayacucho Plus.
The military units have maintained a constant operation against drug trafficking, illegal mining, extortion and other problems that have historically hit the inhabitants of Nariño. This effort to counteract these issues represents the institutional commitment with Colombians for the elimination of the criminal acts of those who commit crimes in this area of the country.
In this context, the Twenty-Third Brigade, in coordination with the Hercules Task Force and the Rapid Deployment Force No. 2, have used all their resources to weaken the threat, protect the inhabitants and regain territorial control of sectors that have been hit by the conflict over the years.
In this way and thanks to the efforts made by the soldiers against drug trafficking, more than 9,000 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride, 38 kilograms of marijuana, 26 kilograms of coca paste base have been found, more than 110 laboratories for the production of alkaloids, 298,960 coca bushes, more than 10,800 gallons of liquid supplies and about 32,000 kilograms of solid supplies have in the same way been destroyed.
As a result of the pressure of the troops, 2 minors have been recovered and 3 individuals surrendered to justice. In the same way, 69 arrests have been made of alleged members of the various illegal groups and, with this, the criminal acts of the GAO-r Central General Staff, GAO-r Segunda Marquetalia, GAO Comuneros del Sur, GAO ELN and common crime groups that commits crimes in the department are destabilized.
On the other hand, in the first quarter of 2026, 12 long weapons, 22 short weapons, 14,690 ammunition of different calibers and 34 grenades were seized. In the same way, the soldiers have anticipated the criminal acts by managing to destroy 379 explosive devices, 152 kilograms of explosives and about 70 meters of detonating cord.
With regard to the actions taken to mitigate the loss of ecosystems in the department, 11,119 seedlings native to the region have been planted.
As for the border area, comprised of municipalities such as Cuaspud Carlosama, Ricaurte, Cumbal, Ipiales, Tumaco and Barbacoas, important results have been obtained. During the first quarter, the arrest of 23 individuals, the seizure of 11 weapons, more than 6 tons of cocaine hydrochloride, the destruction of 320 explosive devices and 498 laboratories for the production of alkaloids stand out.
Similarly, Operation Cordillera is constant in its sustained operations, decisively hitting the resources of the threat and consolidating territorial control in areas historically affected by the armed conflict in Colombia.
Through this, a report of tranquility is provided to the inhabitants, since the soldiers work day and night to protect the life, freedom and tranquility of the inhabitants of Nariño. Every blow dealt to the illegal groups is the result of the unwavering determination of the troops. There will be no hiding place or safe corner of the country for those who threaten peace.
