This illegal activity would be at the service of the illicit activities of the so called Pacificadores de Samaná Substructure.
Within the framework of military operations aimed at combating the illicit activities of armed groups organized with interference in the Magdalena Medio of Antioquia, troops of the Fourteenth Brigade, with the support of the Brigade Against Illicit Mining and with the judicial accompaniment of the National Police and the Attorney General's Office, carried out an operation against the illicit extraction of mining deposits in the village of Puerto Perales, municipality of Puerto Triunfo, department of Antioquia.
During the operation, four open-pit mining production units were intervened, and also troops reported the controlled disablement of four classifiers, ten motor pumps, an electrical generator and about 300 meters of hose used for this illegal activity. It is estimated that these elements would have a cost of more than 68 million pesos.
This place, which would be at the service of the criminal finances of the organized armed group GAO Clan del Golfo, generated an estimated production of 16,200 grams of gold per month, with a price close to 8568 million pesos within the illicit trade.
Through this important result it was possible to make a significant loss to the income of this criminal structure, limiting its ability to obtain elements of war and execute criminal acts that attack the security and tranquility of the inhabitants.
It in the same way it contributes to mitigating the environmental damages caused by this illegal activity, including the pollution of water sources, the indiscriminate removal of land and the loss of ecosystems. It is estimated that the environmental recovery of the affected areas could take approximately 30 years.
