These military operations are carried out within the framework of the Ayacucho Plus Campaign Plan, with the purpose of strengthening the security of the inhabitants of the department.
Soldiers of the Rainforest Battalion No. 51, of the Twenty-Second Rainforest Brigade, found and destroyed in controlled conditions an illegal hiding place with explosives, which allegedly belonged to the residual organized armed group, GAO-r, First Structure Armando Ríos, in the village of Vueltas del Alivio, municipality of Miraflores, department of Guaviare.
The military operation took place while the troops were carrying out river control and security tasks on the Vaupés River. Thanks to information provided by military intelligence, it was possible to find this illegal hideout that contained war items and explosives used for the manufacture of improvised explosive devices, IEDs.
13 launching mechanisms, 2 gas cylinders with explosives, 15 initiators for IED, 30 meters of two wire cable, 20 meters of detonating cord, a gallon of R-15 type explosive, 4 improvised explosive devices (IEDs), elements of military accessories and 45 proselytizing banners alluding to this organized armed group were found by troops and subsequently destroyed in controlled conditions.
According to preliminary information, these explosive devices would be used to attack the Military Forces, especially against the troops of Colombian National Army that carry out military operations in this region, as well as to generate anxiety among the inhabitants.
This type of explosive elements in the same way represents a serious risk for the inhabitants of the sector, including farmers, children, the elderly and other people who transit through the area. This situation constitutes a flagrant violation of human rights and international humanitarian law, endangering the life and integrity of the inhabitants.
