The Twenty-Seventh Rainforest Brigade of Colombian National Army continues to deal powerful blows against the drug trafficking structures that commit crimes in the Amazonas region, in the south of the country.
In compliance with the Strategic Campaign Plan Ayacucho Plus, a joint, coordinated and inter-institutional operation was carried out conducted by troops of the Twenty-Seventh Rainforest Brigade of Colombian National Army, the Navy Infantry of the Colombian Navy and the Attorney General's Office. As a result, it was possible the finding and controlled destruction of an illegal laboratory for the production of cocaine hydrochloride in the village Villa Victoria, municipality of Puerto Asís, Putumayo.
Thanks to military intelligence work, soldiers of the Combat Engineer Battalion No. 27, in coordination with units of the Navy Infantry Battalion No. 30 and staff of the Prosecutor's Office, found a structure belonging to the organized armed group Structure 48, known as Comandos de Frontera. In this place different phases of coca base paste production and cocaine hydrochloride crystallization were carried out.
During the operation, more than 5,267 liters of liquid supplies, 20 microwave ovens, two digital precision scales, 200 bags ready to pack drugs, 120 storage containers, 700 meters of hose used in water extraction, as well as solid supplies and an power generator intended to support illicit production, were found by troops.
This result represents a significant blow against the financial structure of this criminal organization, responsible for homicides, criminal activities and clashes against other armed structures. In addition, the circulation of more than 9,000 million doses of narcotics on the illegal market was prevented and the destruction of a laboratory valued at approximately $200,000 was possible. This operation in the same way contributes to mitigate the environmental damage caused by the use of chemicals in areas of special ecological value.
