As part of the Ayacucho campaign plan, troops of the Colombian National Army discovered and destroyed a coca paste base production laboratory in the village of Puerto Nare, municipality of Miraflores, in Guaviare. This result of the military operation directly impacts the criminal structures specialized in drug trafficking in the region, contributing so to the protection of the environment and the security of communities.
The operation was carried out by soldiers of the Rainforest Battalion N.° 51 Gr. José María Ortega, attached to the Rainforest Brigade N.° 22, thanks to intelligence work that led to finding illegal construction in a wooded area, the Organized Armed Group Armando Ríos first structure, would be then ceasing to receive about 170 million pesos per month for their illicit activities.
During the military operation, a structure used for cocaine production was dismantled and 50 gallons of coca base paste in process were destroyed, and 9 gallons of ammonia, 5 kilos of lime, 40 gallons of DIESEL and a revolver with ammunition were found by troops. The operation was carried out with all the necessary measures to reduce the environmental impact, ratifying the commitment of Colombian National Army to the preservation of the natural resources of the department of Guaviare.
This blow to drug trafficking is very important in the fight against illegal armed groups that threaten the security of communities and ecosystems in the region.
