The military operation took place in the village of El Sinai, municipality of Pueblorrico.
As part of an operation against organized armed groups that commit crimes in the department of Antioquia, troops of the Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) Valle de Aburrá, of the Fourth Brigade, in conjunction with the Colombian Aerospace Force and in coordination with the National Police, arrested six alleged members of the Edwin Román Velásquez Valle Substructure, of the GAO Clan del Golfo, including alias Chibolo, accused as the ringringleader of this criminal structure in the Southwest of Antioquia.
According to the investigations, alias Chibolo would be an area ringleader of the GAO Clan del Golfo, in the municipalities of Jericó, Pueblorrico and Tarso, in the southwest of Antioquia, where he allegedly coordinated criminal activities, including homicides.
This individual, who would have more than 15 years of criminal experience, was on the most wanted list for attacks on human rights defenders, peace signatories and their relatives.
During the operation, the troops seized a rifle, a pistol, a revolver, abundant items of military accessories for the exclusive use of the Military Forces, explosives and narcotics, items that, along with those arrested, were put into custody of the authorities.
Through this result of the military operation it was possible to dismantle a group of this organized armed group that was generating fear among the inhabitants. It in the same way contributes to strengthening security conditions in this sector and to reducing crime rates in the subregion.
