After joint operations conducted by troops of Colombian National Army's Omega Task Force and units of the Colombian Navy, two rudimentary laboratories for production of coca paste were found by troops and dismantled in the villages of Los Andes and La Cascada, in the municipality of Puerto Rico, department of Meta.
These laboratories, of varying sizes, are believed to be part of illicit activities linked to the Jhon Linares Structure, part of the Jorge Suárez Briceño Bloc. More than 750 kilos of coca leaf, 135 liters of coca leaf in process, 36 litters of liquid ingredients, and nearly 300 kilograms of solid ingredients were found by troops, in addition to drying equipment, barrels, and storage tanks.
The planted capacity of these laboratories led for a monthly production of approximately 600 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride, at an estimated cost of 1.8 billion pesos, representing a significant blow to the financial structure of drug trafficking in the southern part of the department.
