The soldiers continue to provide humanitarian assistance and support to the families who suffered the avalanche in the municipality; this time they brought food baskets and rain kits.
After the emergency in Quetame in the Cundinamarca province of Oriente, a large number of families in the area and neighboring municipalities were hit, losing their homes, their sources of income and the dreams they painstakingly built for years.
For this reason, and with the purpose of providing humanitarian assistance and support to more than 15 affected families, Comprehensive Action troops of the National Army brought rain kits and food baskets for their recovery. This operation was coordinated with the Terpel Foundation and the Catalina Muñoz Foundation, who gave away the aid and donations for these families.
“We wanted to distribute some food baskets for the people impacted by the avalanche, and with the support of the army we managed to coordinate all the logistics to be able to distribute these donations to the most vulnerable inhabitants of this municipality,” said Sandra Cristina Rodríguez, Commercial Manager of the Sabana de Terpel regional.
For his part, Major Leonardo Orduz, commander of the Integrated operation Battalion No.4, said that: “the collaboration and solidarity of the entire community are fundamental to support those who are in a vulnerable situation. We are always ready to support the Colombians with all our resources.”
During the activity, the families thanked the staff for the support provided and praised the work of the soldiers of the National Army in security matters.
“We were hit by the wave of rains in Quetame, Cundinamarca, so we are grateful for the help that is coming from the foundation and the National Army, because this is a great support since we are out of work,” said María Isabel Carrillo Castillo, a victim.
In this way, within the framework of the Ayacucho plan and the operations to Support the Defense of the Civil Authority, the National Army aims for the well-being of people who are hit by accidents and natural disasters in the country.
