Within the framework of the Ayacucho Plus Campaign Plan, troops of the Field Artillery Battalion No. 27, of the Twenty-Seventh Brigade, with the judicial support of the Criminal Investigation Section, Sijín, of the National Police, reported an important result of the military operation in the department of Putumayo.
The military operation was carried out in the village of Piñuña Blanca, in the municipality of Puerto Asís, department of Putumayo, where through military intelligence work it was possible to find and disable an illegal hiding place belonging to the residual organized armed group, GAO-r, Comandos de Frontera Structure.
War items, explosives and military accessories were found by troops at the site, which significantly hits the armed and logistical capacity of this illegal structure.
Among the items found, troops reported a Bushmaster-type rifle and an AK-47 rifle, as well as 245 anti-personnel mines, 7 60 mm grenades, 61 improvised explosive devices, and approximately 800 meters of detonating cord.
In the same way, a 40 mm caliber cylinder-type launch vehicle was found, along with 250 camouflage garments with characteristics similar to the Ecuadorian pattern, 140 divers, camouflage fabric, campaign equipment and other logistical elements, used by this organized armed group.
The confiscation of these items shows the intention of the GAO-r Comandos de Frontera Structure to execute terrorist acts against the Military Forces and generate anxiety in the inhabitants, through the use of explosive devices in the department.
This result of the military operation represents a powerful blow to the armed and logistical resources of the GAO-r Comandos de frontera Structure, weakening its criminal acts in this region of the country and contributing to the protection of the inhabitants, in response to the risks warned by the Ombudsman's Office, in the Early Warning 001 of 2025.
