These military operations are carried out for the well-being of the nearly one million 100 thousand inhabitants of the department of La Guajira.
Within the framework of the Ayacucho Plus Campaign Plan, soldiers of the Anti-Aircraft Defense Artillery Battalion No. 1, of the Tenth Brigade, in coordination with the National Police, found approximately 619 kilos of cocaine hydrochloride in a rural area of the municipality of Uribia, Department of La Guajira. This substance belonged to the Jos茅 More Pe帽ate substructure of the organized armed group (GAO) GAO Clan del Golfo.
Thanks to military intelligence information, a van was found coming from the municipality of Barrancas, Department of La Guajira, in which the drug was transported to clandestine ports in Alta Guajira region, from where it would be sent to the international markets.
The drug found would have a price of more than 22,000 million pesos, representing a powerful blow to the illicit finances of the GAO Clan del Golfo. These criminal resources are used by this organization to support its structure, finance criminal activities and attack the inhabitants and the Military Forces.
As part of the operation, the driver of the vehicle that transported the narcotic was in the same way arrested. Both the material and the arrested one were put into custody of the judicial authorities for their respective prosecution.
Colombian National Army ratifies its commitment to continue carrying out joint, coordinated and inter-institutional operations that strengthen security in the north of the country and provide tranquility to the Guajira communities, steadily weakening the illegal activities of armed groups outlaw.
