With the material found, the Geronimo Galeano Group planned to establish and expand its criminal activities in the department of Tolima.
Thanks to military intelligence work, soldiers of the 17th Infantry Battalion General Domingo Caicedo of the Sixth Brigade of Colombian National Army arrived in the village of San Jos茅 de las Hermosas, municipality of Chaparral. There they found an illegal hiding place that contained abundant war material and military accessories, with logos alluding to the residual GAO ront of Ismael Ruiz, Geronimo Galeano Group.
Everything indicates that this material was going to be used to reactivate this group, which in March 2024, in a firefight against the soldiers of the Sixth Brigade, had been dismantled.
A commando-type 60 mm mortar, 21 mortar rounds, clothing, military accessories and material and communications for the exclusive use of the Military Forces and Police were found by troops in the illegal hideout, along bracelets with logos of Geronimo Galeano and Dagoberto Ramos groups.
Among the material were found by troops units of campaign equipment, tactical mats, multipurpose vests and three communication radios, ready to be used by this residual organized armed group under the command of alias Ivan Mordisco.
The material was put into custody of the Specialized Prosecutor's Office 164 of the Specialized Directorate against Criminal Organizations.
