In 2025, 555 improvised explosive devices that have neutralized in this village, preventing tragedies; troops are working to increase the security of more than 10,000 inhabitants of the south of the country.
In the framework of operations carried out in the southwest of the country, troops of the Rapid Deployment Force No. 4 of Colombian National Army detected an area prepared with explosive devices belonging to the criminal structure of the residual organized armed group, GAO-r, Carlos Patiño. This war elements had been planted with the intention of disturbing the territorial control and security tasks carried out by the troops in the region.
Immediately, the specialists of the Explosives and Demolitions Group (EXDE) activated the security protocols, secured the area and executed the controlled destruction of the seven devices, neutralizing the threat without causing damage to the troops or the community. This result prevented a criminal operation.
The use of illicit means and methods such as these improvised devices constitutes a flagrant violation of International Humanitarian Law, putting the lives of the inhabitants at risk. Colombian National Army reiterates its rejection of this type of terrorist activities and its commitment to continue operating in a sustained and coordinated manner to dismantle the armed and financial resources of these illegal structures.
