National Army helps families hit by the wave of rains in Norte de Santander

More than 77 families have received the support provided by the soldiers and the Municipal Mayor of Cúcuta.

Men of the National Army, the Mayor of San Jose de Cucuta, the National Police, the Fire brigade, the Red Cross and the Civil Defense have teamed up to help the families that were hit by the heavy rains that are occurring in the area, and that in this case hit the neighborhood Veintitrés de Enero and a residential unit.

The wave of rains and torrential downpours of the last nights caused the overflow of the Tonchalá stream, which caused a serious flood in Los Arrayanes. The water reached an approximate height of one meter and entered some apartments, dragging furniture and belongings. This calamity has so far left eight people missing and has turned the parking lots into rivers, with damages to several vehicles.

Soldiers have come to the doors of houses in this neighborhood, as well as the residential buildings, to provide support in the evacuation of victims, working as a team with the community with shovels, boots and gloves and providing all the help to those who need it most.
