With the mission of protecting and serving, the soldiers of the Infantry Battalion N° 21 Batalla Pantano de Vargas of the Seventh Brigade, in coordination with the Mayor's Office of Granada and its secretariats of Government, Construction and Environment, brought hope and relief to the families of the villages of El Guape and La Mariela, severely hit by heavy rains and floods on the banks of the Ariari River.
The purpose of the activity was to provide urgent assistance to the communities most impacted by the emergency caused by rains. With dedication, the soldiers carried out mud extraction, cleaning and evacuation tasks in damaged houses, bringing not only immediate solutions, but in the same way a clear message of institutional support and the presence of the State in the territory.
Thanks to this joint work, 450 people directly benefited: 100 children, 100 adolescents and 250 adults, who received priority assistance after a process of identifying the most vulnerable areas.
With operations like this, the Seventh Brigade reaffirms that its mission transcends security: it in the same way represents solidarity, support in emergencies and building trust among institutions and communities. Colombian National Army continues to work hand in hand with local governments so that no family faces adversity alone.
