National Army neutralized a heavy power explosive device in the route between Tame and Fortul, in Arauca

In order to guarantee free mobility on the roads of the department of Arauca, were frustrated terrorist actions of the Organized Armed Group (GAO) ELN and the residual GAO Estructura 10, against the civilian population, the troops and the critical and strategic infrastructure of the State.

In search and territorial control operations, troops of the Quirón Task Force, of the Eighth Division of the National Army, located an improvised explosive device (AIE), with a directional effect, which was installed on the eastern side of the route that connects the municipalities of Tame and Fortul, in the department of Arauca.

This device, which contained 80 kilograms of homemade explosive substance, was found 50 meters from a house inhabited by an elderly person, a couple and three minors. After the explosive was found, technicians from the antiexplosive groups of Engineer Battalion No.18 isolated the area and implemented all security protocols for the controlled deactivation of the risk.

In another military operation carried out in the village of Laureles, in the municipality of Arauquita, troops of the Ground Operations Battalion No.29 found an illegal depot with seven devices, which contained 10 kilograms of explosive substance, and apparently belonged to the GAO-R E10. They intended to carry out terrorist operations against civilians and Military Forces.

This year, troops of the National Army have neutralized more than 50 terrorist operations that put at risk the lives and wellbeing of the Arauca inhabitants and military personnel, as well as the strategic assets of the state.
