Through this military operation, it was possible to eliminate 118 explosive devices; the terrorist acts against the inhabitants and the Military Forces of this region of the country are being thwarted.
Within the framework of the Ayacucho Plus Operations Plan, troops of the Rapid Deployment Force No. 3 (FUDRA 3), with the support of the Attorney General's Office and the CTI, find and destroy an illicit hideout of explosives belonging to the organized armed group ELN.
The military operation was carried out in the village of Los Ángeles, municipality of Sardinata, department of Norte de Santander, where the troops reinforce their presence for the elections on June 21 and continue to carry out military operations aimed at reducing the armed resources of this criminal structure.
A clandestine hiding place was found in the place that contained war elements and explosives that, according to intelligence work, would be used by these groups to attack the Military Forces and affect critical state construction.
Among the items destroyed were 83 improvised explosive devices, 35 victim-activated explosive devices, 15 means of launching of different sizes, 182 improvised explosive devices munitions, 520 detonators for explosive devices, as well as approximately one ton of explosives represented in detonating cord, safety fuse, black powder and explosive multipliers.
Additionally, 114 7.62-millimeter caliber cartridges and elements of military accessories made of garments for the exclusive use of the Military Forces, multipurpose vests, bracelets and a flag alluding to the ELN armed group were seized.
Through this result of the military operation, we significantly affected the logistical and terrorist resources of this illegal armed structure since this would be the explosives collection center of the Northeastern War Front of the ELN with which they planned to affect the normal development of the upcoming elections.
