The explosive charges had been planted a few meters from a village road that is used daily by dozens of peasants who inhabit that sector.
During military operations, National Army troops neutralized a powerful improvised explosive device in the town La Siberia, a rural area of the municipality of Tame, Arauca.
This operation was possible thanks to the timely information provided by the civic participation network, which led the anti-explosive technicians to arrive at the site to secure the area to carry out the destruction procedure. At that moment, the military units were harassed by terrorists on a motorcycle, and in a cowardly manner they fled to an unknown destination.
The charge that the criminals would have prepared consisted of a 40-kilo gas cylinder loaded with explosives, whose activation system was by cable. In the same way, and, after searching the area, the soldiers found abandoned a fragmentation grenade that was in the same way destroyed.
Crimes are committed by the residual Organized Armed Group, GAO-r, Estructura Décima and the ELN, who indiscriminately seek to strike at military operations in the area and attack civilians.
The National Army rejects the installation of these unconventional weapons, which become a flagrant violation of human rights and violation of international humanitarian law, since they put at risk the civilians who transit daily through this area of the department of Arauca. These facts will be reported to the authorities.
