The timely reaction of the troops prevented a tragedy in the village of El Diviso, where an explosive was found a few meters from a school.
Within the framework of the Ayacucho Plus Strategic Plan, troops of the Rainforest Battalion No. 53, unit a of the Hercules Task Force, in coordination with the Explosives and Demining Team, EXDE, neutralized an improvised explosive device that posed an imminent threat to the inhabitants of the village of El Diviso, in the municipality of Tumaco, Nariño.
The grenade-type explosive was found in a house of an indigenous leader, a few meters from an school, a situation that generated a high risk for the inhabitants of the sector.
Thanks to the timely information of the community, the EXDE team moved to the place, carried out isolation work of the area and carried out the controlled destruction of the device, thus preventing a tragedy.
Through this operation, there are already eight explosive devices neutralized in 2025 on the road that connects Tumaco with Pasto, a strategic route for mobility, supply and development of the department of Nariño.
