Within the framework of sustained operations against drug trafficking, troops of the Twenty-Second Rainforest Brigade of Colombian National Army, reported the finding and destruction in controlled conditions of a rustic laboratory for the production of coca paste base, which would belong to the residual organized armed group (GAO-r), First Structure Armando Ríos, of the Amazonas Bloc.
The operation took place in the village Makusito, rural area of the municipality of El Retorno, Guaviare, where a wooden structure was found, conditioned with chemical precursors and materials used in the manufacture of drugs.
During the procedure, the authorities destroyed several precursors used for drug production, including 50 kilograms of lime, 20 of ammonium sulfate, 25 of cement and 5 of sulfuric acid. In the same way, 100 kilos of coca leaf in process, 20 gallons of gasoline and 6 55-gallon barrels containing coca leaf in the production stage were found by troops and destroyed.
This result represents a powerful blow against the logistics and financing capacity of the illegal armed group, weakening its criminal activities in the south-east of Colombia and dismantling a key point of its illicit production chain.
