A National Army non-commissioned officer refused bribery in northern Cauca

The first corporal said "No!" to a large sum of money offered to him to let the transit of a shipment of marijuana.

The event occurred of the road that connects the municipality of Caloto to the municipality of El Palo, in the north of the department of the Cauca, where the sub officer made the sign of Stop to a woman who was traveling on a motorcycle, who offers money to persuade him to allow the transit of the truck that was behind; However, this action was rejected immediately by the military.

Subsequently, the driver of the van-type vehicle, observing the procedure being carried out on the woman, stopped the car, and he attempted to escape, which generated the rapid reaction of the troops, who closed the checkpoint to stop the van. Once the vehicle was inspected, several rectangular packages containing the psychoactive substance were found by troops inside.

Before this operation, the woman fled of the scene; however, the military personnel arrested the driver of the car where 822 kilograms of marijuana were being transported; this cargo would cost approximately 1,500 million pesos, which apparently had as destination countries of Ecuador, Chile, and Costa Rica. This illegal shipment would belong to the residual Organized Armed Group, GAO-r, Dagoberto Ramos Ortiz Structure.

The individual arrested, who was put into custody of the authorities along with the material found, must answer for his alleged responsibility in the crimes of trafficking, carrying and manufacture of narcotic drugs.

With this decisive blow to drug trafficking, the National Army continues to substantially harm the illegal activities of this illegal armed group.
