The activity was carried out in the implementation of an inter-institutional partnership with civil society.

In order to compensate for the damage caused to ecosystems by the misuse of natural resources, the National Army, through the Integrated Action and Development and Support Battalion No. 6 with the Naturamazonas Alliance, planted 1,000 trees in a rural area of the municipality of Villagarz贸n, Putumayo

The activity was developed in the village of El Mez贸n, in a six-hectare property where the goal is to plant 6,000 fruit species native seed to restore an area degraded by deforestation due to extensive cattle farming.

This environmental day is part of an agreement between the Naturamazonas Alliance and the Sixth Division that seeks to unite efforts that combine the capacities of the soldiers as guardians of the environment, institutions and civil society, to reverse the consequences of the illegal extractive economies in a strategic area for humanity, due to the water and oxygen production that takes place in the Amazon forests.

This activity was carried out in accordance with biosecurity standards such as the use of mask and distance to avoid the spread of COVID-19, and was developed based on the guidelines of Artemisa Major Operation, which is aimed at protecting ecosystems and reducing deforestation rates in Colombia..
