The National Army provides humanitarian aid to a minor of age with retinal cancer

The First Division, with the support of the National Army Air Assault Aviation Division, transferred Lorena Escorcia and her three-year-old girl to the city of Bogot谩.

Heeding the call of the local authorities and that of a mother for the health of her three-year-old daughter, who suffers from invasive retinal cancer, the National Army supported them to move to Bogot谩, in order to receive specialized medical assistance.

Mother and daughter live in the Tasajera village, municipality of Pueblo Viejo, in the department of Magdalena. Their precarious circumstances, like those of the family, made it practically impossible to access collective passenger transport for the urgent movement of the little girl.

The First and Second Division, with the support of the National Army's Aviation and Air Assault Division, adjusted the planning to be able to support them as soon as possible and facilitate the arrival of the minor accompanied by her mother to Bogot谩.

In a UH-1N military helicopter, they reached Valledupar, in the department of Cesar, where they subsequently boarded a C-208 Cessna Grand Carav谩n plane, which finally drove them to their destination.

On the journey, which lasted approximately four hours, the minor and her mother were attended by the Army Aviation crew. The flight arrived on time to the country's capital city, where an Army ambulance transported them to the Colombian Cancer Institute.
