These people had been in the hands of the organized armed group for more than four months, apparently to demand money in exchange for their freedom.
In a defensive operation carried out by the troops of the National Army, it was possible to successfully recover two people who were apparently kidnapped by the organized armed group ELN Héctor Front. They were released after being held for several days in different places in the region.
One of them had been detained on February 24, 2023, in the Llano Grande sector, he was contacted by the kidnappers under the pretext of a negotiation related to a motorcycle. Two individuals, who claimed to be members of the ELN, took him to the municipality of San Pablo, where he remained in captivity until his release.
In the same way, the other kidnapped on March 25 in the village of San Pablo, municipality of Teorama, Norte de Santander. The man is engaged in the purchase and sale of vehicles in the municipality of Ocaña, and went to the village of San Pablo to make a business transaction when he was held by his captors, who took him and all his belongings.
Thanks to the effective operation of the troops of the 11th Ground Operations Battalion, both people have been released and are safe. The National Army will continue to work tirelessly to increase the security of the inhabitants and put an end to the criminal operations of illegal armed groups in the region.
