Within the framework of Colombian National Army's Ayacucho Plus Plan, troops of the Cundinamarca Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group), of the 13th Brigade, in coordination with agents of the CTI (Technical Investigations Corps) of the Attorney General's Office, carried out several raids and arrests by court order in the cities of Bogotá and Facatativá, in Cundinamarca, and Melgar, in Tolima, where they dismantled a network of trafficking in firearms, ammunition, explosives and military accessories; materials that had its center of operations in the capital city of the country.
During the operation, 13 people were arrested, including an active duty soldier of Colombian National Army, and abundant war material was found, made of 30 long weapons, 19 short weapons, a rocket launcher, 100 magazines, 5 rifle sights, a silencer for long weapons and 2000 cartridges of different caliber.
In the same way, 54 replicas of chameleon-type camouflage uniforms, 10 scarfs and more than 30 million pesos in cash were found by troops and put into custody of the judicial authorities.
After months of investigative and military counterintelligence work, it was possible to identify and find these individuals who apparently had the responsibility of obtaining weapons in military units to later sell them to organized armed groups throughout the country.
