With the strategic deployment of the special resources of the military engineers and the Colombian cavalry, a comprehensive solution is provided to work for the safety and well-being of the inhabitants of more than five municipalities of the department of Cauca.
In a joint effort to strengthen security and improve the quality of life of the most vulnerable communities, Colombian National Army has transferred a semi-permanent modular metal structure and four armored vehicles in the area of the Micay Canyon, in the department of Cauca.
This strategic operation seeks to increase mobility, protection and access to basic services for more than 25,000 thousand people who live in this region.
The military bridge, installed at a critical point in the area, replaces the structure that conected the village of La Hacienda, municipality of El Tambo, with the village of El Plateado, which was destroyed last March 3 by the organized armed group residual Carlos Patiño Structure, belonging to the dissidents, with the aim of hindering the progress of the troops and isolating the communities.
General Federico Alberto Mejía Torres, commander of the Third Division, lead the process from its planning to its execution, highlighting the commitment of the Military Forces to the development and security of Colombia. "While the outlaw groups destroy, we build. We have a commitment to Colombia and to every inhabitant of the Micay Canyon," the senior officer said during the deployment of the units.
In addition to the military bridge, the four armored vehicles will strengthen security in the region, protecting the inhabitants from possible threats and contributing to the stability of the territory.
This deployment not only represents a progress in terms of security, but in the same way a commitment to social development and the well-being of the most remote communities in the country.
Brigadier General Alberto Mejía in the same way said: "This deployment not only represents an progress in terms of security, but in the same way a commitment to social development and the well-being of the most remote communities in the country. We are working so that the Micay Canyon has a safer and more prosperous future."
This initiative is part of the efforts of the national Government and the Military Forces to bring progress and protection to the regions most hit by the conflict and geographical isolation.
It is expected that in the coming months, comprehensive operations will continue to be implemented that will benefit the communities of Cauca, strengthening institutional activity and promoting sustainable development in the region.
