More than 600 food kits donated by the Government of the Republic of China and commercial alliances of the Department arrived in Vaupés.

The Fourth Division of the National Army, within the framework of Operation San Roque, through the Thirty-First Brigade, works with its troops in the Department of Vaupés. In this effort they carried out an activity in assistance to the civil authority of the department, thus reaching hundreds of children and young people of the indigenous communities of the region.

This initiative included the participation of the departmental Secretariat of Agriculture, the departmental Institute of Sports, Culture and recreation of Vaupés and departmental Social Management, all of them led by the Vaupés government.

A Colombian Air Force aircraft reached the Mitu Air terminal, in Vaupés, with elements that will become hope and the impetus for education in this region, composed largely of Indigenous communities. Brigade 31 soldiers were prepared to receive the aid and move it through a river movement to the remote sectors of the municipality of Mitu. In this way they traveled for about 24 hours the vaupés and the Cubiyú Cano Rivers until reaching the ancestral communities of Viravazú, Bocas del yi, Wasay, Mandi and Yacayaca.

Leonardo Ramírez Rodríguez, captain of the Tuyuca ethnic group, of the Yacayaca community and legal representative of the Aaitmivám area in intermediate Vaupés, said: “The National Army always supports the indigenous communities and is respectful of human rights, we are proud of their work”, he in the same way said that they hope to continue to count on the support of the institution.

The territory and the weather conditions do not stop the troops of the National Army to reach these places far of the urban areas; therefore, the Brigade No. 31 works for the safety of the inhabitants of Vaupés, in order to contribute to the development and ensure the protection and preservation of the legacies of the indigenous peoples that enrich the cultural diversity of Colombia.

“We accompany the Government of Vaupés in the distribution of humanitarian aid, with the purpose of contributing to the most remote communities in the region; we work to ensure that security leads more progress in Vaupés”, said Colonel Janner Cortés Rojas, commander of Brigade no.31.

During the activities, the departmental governor addressed a few words to the institutions and companies that made this humanitarian operation possible: “we thank the private companies, the Government of the Republic of China, the Air Force and the National Army, for their contributions with the aid and for the logistical deployment to get here and benefit the inhabitants of Vaupes”.

Working with institutions is essential to reach all corners of Colombia, and the National Army will continue to coordinate efforts with the civilian authorities, to make the State's efforts more visible in the most remote regions of the national territory.
