The troops neutralized rudimentary explosive devices in rural area of Argelia, Cauca, which threatened the security of the local inhabitants and the Military Forces.
Thanks to the timely intervention of the Explosives and Demolitions team - EXDE-, with the support of trained dogs of the Brigade Against Drug Trafficking No. 3, it was possible to find and destroy in controlled conditions an improvised gas cylinder-type explosive device and three anti-personnel mines, allegedly planted by the Residual Organized Armed Group -GAO-r-, Carlos Patiño Structure.
The military operation took place in a wooded area of the village of Los Pinos, in the municipality of Argelia, Cauca. These devices represented a serious risk to the life and physical condition of the inhabitants of the rural area, who regularly pass through the sector.
Explosives, commonly used by illegal armed groups to protect illicit plantations and drug production laboratories, endanger the security of the entire community.
After its finding, the soldiers, experts in explosives and demolitions, carried out the controlled destruction of the material, thus reducing the risks and weakening the illegal activities that sustain drug trafficking activities in this area of the department.
