With the finding of more than a ton of marijuana, the arrest of two individuals and the finding of abundant war and communications equipment and three vehicles, Colombian National Army contributes to the stabilization of security in the region.
Troops of the Guajira Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group), unit a of the Tenth Brigade, executed a stability operation in the village of El Conejo, municipality of Fonseca, department of La Guajira, with the objective of countering the criminal acts of illegal structures with interference in the north of the country.
Thanks to military intelligence information, it was possible to find a building that was allegedly used by alias el Congo, an individual accused of being in charge of collecting, storing and distributing narcotics for criminal organizations such as the Tren de Aragua and the organized armed groups, GAO, Clan del Golfo and ELN.
More than a ton of marijuana and abundant war items were found by troops at the place, including an MP5 submachinegun, 2 rifles, 3 shotguns, 2 pistols, 4 magazines, 188 cartridges of different calibers and 19 shotgun shells. In the same way, military and communications accessories were found by troops and 3 vans were immobilized.
During the operation, two individuals were arrested, one of them alias el Congo, allegedly responsible for the recent murder of a member of the National Police in the municipality of Albania. Those arrested have criminal records for illegal possession of firearms, homicide, theft and extortion, and, along with the items found, they were put into custody of the authority for their respective prosecution process.
Colombian National Army, through the Tenth Brigade, will continue to carry out powerful military operations that reaffirm its commitment to the security and tranquility of the inhabitants in this area of the country.
