The timely intervention prevented risks for the communities and strengthened security in the region.
In the framework of military operations, troops of the Rainforest Infantry Battalion No. 24, of the Twenty-Second Brigade, carried out the finding and controlled destruction of three abandoned explosives in the village of Santa Helena, municipality of El Retorno, department of Guaviare.
The operation was possible through area search work, which led the Explosives and Demolitions team to identify these gas cylinder-type devices, which apparently belonged to the residual organized armed group Structura Primera Armando Ríos, of the Amazonas Bloc.
Thanks to the timely intervention of the specialized personnel, the controlled destruction of the explosives was carried out, effectively neutralizing the risk they retained for the inhabitants, the troops and those who transit through this sector.
Colombian National Army, through the Fourth Division, will continue to carry out military operations aimed at neutralizing threats, protecting the lives of the inhabitants and strengthening security in the department of Guaviare.
