The institution is currently carrying out military operations under the concept of wide-area security, and is working for the development of this project, which will have the purpose of generating electricity from the wind for ground sites.
The military units strategically found in Uribía, in the department of Guajira, have as their main mission to protect the energy construction and maintain the tranquility and peaceful coexistence of the people of the region.
Wind farms are a construction that will produce electrical energy from the wind. These projects designed to come into operation, a part in the year 2023, will generate 17.7% of energy for the country's internal consumption.
The objective ion the future is the construction of more wind farms in Alta Guajira, which will generate clean, non-polluting and unlimited energy in the country, which will reduce the consumption of fossil fuels, which in turn leads to a reduction in carbon footprint.
This is how the installations of these wind turbines have become an employment opportunity, where companies hire personnel from the region, who support the work of finding power towers and electrical interconnection lines.
The country has a wind farm in Alta Guajira (Jepírachi), which has brought clean energy to central Colombia, and a second wind farm, called Guajira I, is currently under construction, which will provide clean energy to the Caribbean and Andean regions. It is expected that in 4 years there will be the same number of these parks with state-of-the-art technology, producing more than 17% of the energy, contributing to the progress of the country.
The preparation and training of the National Army troops deployed in the sector, where temperatures sometimes exceed 40°C, have been fundamental in working to fulfill the mission and ensure the security of the strategic resources of the State, as well as for the wellbeing of all communities in the extreme northeast of the country.
Meanwhile, work continues jointly with the Navy, Air Force and Police, to contribute to Wind Farms in Alta Guajira, in support of the departmental and local authorities of Uribía, Maicao and Albania, which are the municipalities where this important project is currently being built.
