National Army works to mitigate heavy forest fire in the department of Cundinamarca

At least 120 soldiers in support of the Fire Department, the National Police and other authorities, attend the emergency that has been reported for two days in the municipality of Quetame.

 

Troops of the Artillery Battalion No.13 and the Battalion of Assistance and Disaster Prevention No.80 of the National Army in a coordinated work with all emergency control agencies of the department, moved to the Caimito village in rural area of ​​the municipality of Quetame, in the department of Cundinamarca, in order to control a fire of great proportions that hits a considerable part of the rural area of ​​the municipality since yesterday. The authorities have managed to control to a large part of the fire that has not only been damaging wildlife, but in the same way has caused burn injuries to five people, as well as the loss of houses and equipment.

 

For more than 48 hours, soldiers and emergency agencies, using the appropriate safety protocols, have mitigated the flames that already leave more than 150 hectares consumed, the authorities have in the same way supported the priority evacuation of more than 40 people.
