National Navy and Prosecutor´s Office dismantle transnational drug trafficking organization

cogfm-arc-desarticulada-narcotrafico-24.jpg

In a coordinated operation, conducted by Units of the National Navy and the Technical Investigation Corps of the Attorney General's Office, the capture of four individuals belonging to a transnational drug trafficking organization was carried out.

This structure, with criminal interference in the city of Cartagena and other places in the Colombian Caribbean, perpetrated the shipment of large loads of cocaine to Central America, in speedboats and coastal ships.

During the judicial investigation it was possible to obtain sufficient evidence to prosecute these four individuals, product of the discovery of more than 2 tons of cocaine hydrochloride and 7 tons of marijuana, which led to the dismantling two other narcotics trafficking structures, in previous phases.

Among those captured there is alias 'Lucho', who served as the logistics coordinator of the organization and was in charge of coordinating drug shipments and had contacts in Central America for its reception. In the same way, alias 'Yair', who would be the owner of a building in the Albornoz neighborhood, which served as a dock and workshop for the conditioning of the boats used to transport narcotics to Central America was also captured. This site was in the same way used as a point of reception and collection of large quantities of narcotics.

The individuals were put into custody of the Attorney General's Office, and must answer for the crimes of trafficking, manufacture or carrying of narcotics and conspiracy to commit a crime.
