In the framework of the Unified operation of the State, in a joint and coordinated operation conducted by the Colombian Navy, the National Army and the National Police, the capture of eleven people for the crime of illicit exploitation of mining deposits in the department of Department of Antioquia, took place.

This fluvial operation of focused operation was carried out on the Cauca river, in the sector known as Piamonte, in the municipality of C谩ceres, Department of antioquia, by troops of the Marine Infantry Battalion No.17, of the Battalion of Land Operations No.24 of the Army and the National Police, attached to the Aquiles Joint Task Force.

The eleven individuals were caught in flagrante delicto, at a time when they were preparing to carry out illegal mining on the Cauca River. This activity causes serious damage to the environment and contamination of the waters of this important water tributary, which flows through 180 municipalities in seven departments of the country.

During the operation, three rudimentary dredgers were found with their engines and a floating dragon-type device (dredge).

The material found and the people captured were put into custody of the 82nd Prosecutor's Office, C谩ceres Section, in the department of Antioquia and must face charges for the crime of illicit exploitation of mining deposits and other minerals.
