This year 82 tons of cocaine have been found by the Navy of Colombia in the Caribbean.

In the frame of a maritime interception operation, Units of the Navy of Colombia found about 2.5 tons of cocaine hydrochloride, transported aboard a Go fast boat, in the municipality of Capurganá, municipality of Acandí, in the department of Chocó.

A Rapid Reaction Unit of the Coast Guard Station of Urabá, detected the vessel in which six individuals were suspiciously traveling, in the sector known as Pino Roa. Upon noticing the presence of the Navy of Colombia, the individuals ignoring the call of the military undertook the escape, beginning a chase of the motorboat, in waters of the Colombian Caribbean.

Troops of the Navy Infantry Battalion No.16 and an Air Unit of the Caribbean Aeronaval Group, traveled to the sector, in support of the vessel's interception. Thanks to the pressure of the authorities, the boat was driven to the shore by its crew. In the place, the individuals escaped avoiding being detected in the middle of the mangrove.

During the detailed inspection, 97 bags were found containing 2,425 packages of illicit substances, as well as important war material such as two rifles, four magazines, 107 cartridges of different calibers and various communication equipment.

The material was taken to the Urabá Coast Guard Station, where the judicial authorities carried out the Preliminary Identification Test - Piph, testing positive for cocaine hydrochloride, whose estimated value exceeds 72 million dollars, in the international Illegal market.
