Units of the Caribbean Naval Force distributed 150,000 liters of water and about 4 tons of humanitarian aid to the inhabitants of the San Bernardo Archipelago.
The Colombian Navy, with the aim of improving the living conditions of the inhabitants of the Archipelago, supported the San Bernardo campaign, within the framework of the health crisis derived from Mandatory Preventive Isolation, a measure adopted by the National Government to prevent the spread of covid -19.
Crews of the Coveñas Coast Guard Station, the Navy Infantry Training Base and the Port authority, in coordination with representatives María Paula Correa, Chief of the Presidential office; Luis Alberto Rodríguez, Director of National Planning and a delegation of the government, made up of doctors, social managers and private companies, joined forces to make this initiative possible, led by the Colombian actress Estefanía Borges.
In compliance with institutional policies to support social development of the vulnerable communities, the Naval Institution supported, through the Logistics Support ship ARC Golfo de Morrosquillo and Coast Guard Units, the distribution of 150,000 liters of water and four tons of humanitarian aid for the community of the Punta Faro hotel on Isla Múcura. In the same way, 2,000 washable facemasks and presents for children were distributed, a humanitarian gesture that benefits the most vulnerable families in the Archipelago.
During this Activity, a group of young community leaders of the area approached the National Government officials to present the most felt needs of the community, while formulating proposals for possible solutions. In the same way, a medical lecture on the prevention of Coronavirus took place, with the purpose of raising awareness about the importance of self-care and implementation of the measures that have been designed to contain the spread of the virus.
