The main objective is to encourage these transmedia narratives to reach young people, indigenous communities and citizens throughout the country.
As part of the construction of the historical memory context, the Colombian Navy, in coordination with the University of San Buenaventura – Bogotá, on November 05, 2025, the official launch of the project Memory Currents: transmedia narratives of the Amazon was held before the local authorities and the people of Puerto Leguízamo (Putumayo), as part of the recognition of those who participated in the framework of this research work in the territories of the Colombian Amazonas.
During the launch event there was a protocol ceremony, an academic forum and the screening of the two micro documentaries Green Ocean and Binational Operation, with the active presence of Vice Admiral Javier Alfonso Jaimes Pinilla - Commander of the Naval Force of the Amazonas, authorities of the University of San Buenaventura – Bogotá, other personnel of the Military Forces and military and civilian directly and indirectly victims of the internal armed conflict in the region.
In this sense, the context project Memory Currents seeks to make visible the operation in the territory, publicize the victimizing and historical facts and contribute significantly to the construction of peace, based on the lines of historical memory research signed in the specific research agreement between the Colombian Navy and the University of San Buenaventura – Bogotá, where transmedia, audiovisual and written products are developed, including the book The river and its echoes, narratives of the inhabitants and the National Navy in the Colombian Amazon that was officially launched at the 2025 International Book Fair, twelve micro documentaries, a virtual reality environment on board the Heavy River Support Patrol Boat ARC TECIM Eddic Cristian Reyes Holguín, a web platform that collects the events that marked the armed conflict of the triple border, among others.

For its part, this initiative of high academic rigor reaffirms the institutional commitment of the Colombian Navy to historical memory and its strategic contribution not only in terms of security and defense, but in the same way in the cultural and social field, since it documents from an comprehensive perspective how the collective memories and the resilience processes of all the actors that converge in the Colombian Amazon are intertwined.
The Colombian Navy, through the Directorate of Support for the Transition of the Legal Office, will continue to work with its permanent commitment in coordination with the academy in the structuring of transmedia narratives that strengthen the social fabric of the regions and significantly contribute to symbolic reparation, truth, justice and commitments of non-repetition.
