The event counted on the active participation of representatives of the Ombudsman's Office, the Secretariat of Participation, the Women’s Foundation Espejo and the Institute Rey, as a sign of the effective Unified operation of the State for the wellbeing and protection of the rights of the inhabitants of the Colombian Caribbean.

In this significant effort of the Naval Institution to promote behaviors of tolerance and respect towards women, the presentations : “Heal in Family, Heal as Country”, “Healthy Environment for mental health” and “Tolerance and Respect for the difference” conducted by the specialists in psychology PhD Bany Amaya Sala, Mildred Silguero Barreto and the Social Worker Suri Saray García, in order to generate spaces for reflection on cultural and educational paradigms, as factors that intervene in the Family System generating violence against women.

Motivation:

The Declaration on the elimination of violence against women issued by the UN General Assembly in 1993 defines violence against women as “Any act of violence that has or may result in physical, sexual or psychological harm or suffering in women, as well as threats of such acts, coercion or arbitrary deprivation of liberty, whether they occur in public life or in private life.”
