After the hard work done by the Military Engineers Company of the National Army and Navy of Colombia in coordination with the Governor of Cauca and the Municipality of Guapi, in the last Wednesday morning opened the bridge Venecia, which will considerably improve the traffic of the inhabitants of Guapi, as part of a series of projects that has been driving the Naval Institution to contribute to the social and community development of the municipality.

1.116 million pesos were invested in this bridge type Waagner Biro, which has a length close to 40 meters long and five meters wide. The work that meets the highest quality standards weighs 80 tons and has the capacity of 40 tons of load.

The Chief of Naval Training, instruction and education, Rear Admiral Francisco Cubides Granados, representing the Colombian Navy Command, accompanied by of the High Commissioner for Peace, The Governor of Cauca, the Municipal Mayor, members of the National Army, the National Police and the bishop of Guapi, were in charge of inaugurating this work that will benefit about nine thousand inhabitants, who had difficulty moving through this area due to the deteriorated state of the previous bridge.

The remodeling of this bridge is a response to the need to facilitate transit and mobility in this sector, since historically and traditionally its inhabitants have used it to market their agricultural and fishing products, as well as to access recreation space for everyone.

The work, which lasted approximately four months, was built by the company of Military Engineers of the National Army and the Navy of Colombia that, on the amphibious landing ship, attached to the Naval Force of the Pacific, transported the required materials and heavy machinery from Buenaventura, Valle del Cauca.

The municipality of Guapi has received the permanent support of the Pacific Naval force, through the Navy Infantry River Battalion No.42, leveraging a number of infrastructure projects.

In the same way, during the health emergency caused by Covid-19, its inhabitants received about 146 tons of Humanitarian Aid represented in food, drinking water, toilet kits and biosecurity elements, which were donated by the National Government, private companies and non-profit institutions with the permanent support of the Colombian Navy.
