Armada de Colombia lideró Jornada de Apoyo al Desarrollo y benefició a comunidades de Puerto Leguízamo, Putumayo

The Colombian Navy, through the Navy Infantry River Battalion No. 30 led a comprehensive support activity in Puerto Leguizamo, with the purpose of providing medical assistance to the inhabitants of the urban area and the riverside communities in Putumayo, benefiting more than a thousand people.

The activity was supported by a team of specialists in health areas such as physiotherapy, gynecology, general and internal medicine, nutrition, dentistry, pediatrics and psychology, among others, in addition to a nursing, pharmacy and social work staff, to meet the most pressing health needs of the river inhabitants. About 2,000 medicines were in the same way distributed, and it is working to increase access to essential basic treatments.

In addition, the activity integrated families with recreational and sports activities and programs focused on promoting economic development and the preservation of the environment, strengthening the comprehensive well-being of the community.

This activity was possible thanks to the coordinated work conducted by the Colombian Navy, the Mayor's Office of Puerto Leguizamo, the Medical Dispensary of Leguizamo, Colombian National Army, the San Luis LIFE Foundation, the María Angelines Hospital, the Colombian Institute of Family Wellbeing – ICBF and the National Police.
