San Andres. More than three months of planning were necessary to make a Development Support Day led by the National Navy and the Departmental Government in conjunction with the National Army and the Colombian Air Force, in support of the Mar铆a Luisa de Moreno Foundation in favor of the wellbeing of children, young and adult islanders and raizales (creole) in San Andres Island.
During two days of massive assistance at the facilities of the Industrial Technical School, which opened its doors to receive more than 100 volunteers and 30 specialists, focused on the areas of general medicine, internal medicine, nephrology, human genetics, gynecology, ophthalmology, optometry. , chiropractic, nutrition, phonoaudiology, psychology, respiratory therapy, clinical laboratory, cytology, audiometry and physiotherapy.
The professionals who were transported from the city of Bogot谩 aboard a flight of the Colombian Air Force provided 3,047 health care services to 1,302 beneficiaries. The Commander of the Specific Command of San Andr茅s y Providencia, Rear Admiral Juan Francisco Herrera Leal said: "I am pleased to see each person leaving the institution with a smile. This is the satisfaction of the duty fulfilled by all the actors that have participated. Without a doubt, it is the spirit of serving that enhances the capacities that are reflected in the efficient way of serving the community. "
It is worth mentioning that this Development Support Day in the same way became a space for dialogue in the middle of a communal council with some families from different areas of the island, with the purpose of structuring productive, environmental and infrastructure proposals for medium and long term development, improving the living conditions of the inhabitants. In this meeting, training was provided in sustainable development, circular economy, coastal marine ecosystems, solidarity economy, induction to productive projects, waste management and intervention on psychosocial problems.
