Thanks to an intelligence work and the pressure exerted by troops of Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) Oriente, it was possible to find this individual, for whom the government of Antioquia provided a reward of up to 60 million pesos.
In compliance with the constitutional mission, under the guidelines of the Security, defense and citizen Coexistence Policy of the Ministry of National Defense, and the Ayacucho Operational Campaign Plan, troops of the National Army, seeking to protect the lives of civilians and provide security conditions in territories under dispute of criminal organizations, where troops carry out military operations against the GDO Clan del Oriente, in the department of Antioquia.
In compliance with the above, in the last few hours soldiers of the National Army have arrested alias Camilo, accused ringleader of the organized criminal group GDO Clan del Oriente.
The facts took place in the Macanal populated center, municipality of San Rafael, department of Antioquia, where the soldiers arrived, along with officials of the Attorney General's Office, to arrest by judicial warrant this individual and five others, who would be members of the criminal organization.
This man, in addition to being accused of being the ringleader, apparently would be the brain and perpetrator of selective homicides, and would threaten civilians to force illicit plantations and would be collecting money from extortion against merchants, the mining and transportation sector.
He would in the same way be responsible for the armed strike of the last month of February 2023 in Argelia and Nariño, municipalities of the department of Antioquia where he carried out his criminal operations.
A pistol, magazines, cartridges and a cell phone were seized during the military operation.
